Associate Solicitor

Kate Pooler

Kate joined Edwards Family law as an Associate Solicitor in September 2022.

Kate advises on all aspects of family law, including divorce, financial remedy, Schedule 1 Children Act cases, pre- and post-nuptial agreements and all matters relating to co-parenting. Kate regularly assists parties going through mediation, advising on the merits of financial settlements, and formalising those agreements into court orders.  Whilst having a focus on dispute resolution outside of court – be that via mediation, private alternatives to court hearings, or solicitor-led negotiations – Kate will strongly support you through the litigation process where necessary. She prides herself on listening from the outset to her clients’ concerns, priorities and special circumstances, and giving bespoke, client-led advice.

Kate specialises in cases with an international dimension, involving complex matters of disclosure, valuation, or asset characterisation for divorce purposes. Kate has also advised in conjunction with top King’s Counsel barristers on matters of the international relocation of children.

Kate trained at an internationally renowned full-service firm, before qualifying as a Private Client lawyer in 2018, advising families and family offices on trusts, estate planning and UK tax.

From 2020 Kate started taking on Family law cases and moved to a Tier 1 boutique Family practice in London. She gained experience in dealing with high-profile and exceptionally high value cases, with associated confidentiality or reporting issues, and often dealing with novel matters of law. With both a Family Law and Private Client law background, Kate’s specialism was in advising trustees and beneficiaries alike on the treatment of trusts in divorce.

Examples of work included

  • Collaboration with foreign lawyers and negotiation of pre- and post-nuptial agreements to be enforceable in multiple jurisdictions.

Kate lived her teenage years in Muscat, Oman. She studied History at Worcester College, Oxford. In her spare time she enjoys playing netball and offers pro-bono advice in a charitable clinic.

“Kate Pooler’s client service and general level of service is very strong. Kate’s level of sophistication is strong. Her commercial vision is also strong. Kate was very responsive when contacted and definitely knew what was happening at every stage of the proceedings. She could also set out the outcomes depending on which route I would take.”
